Family portraits with little kids can be challenging. They just want to run and play and the littlest thing takes them from happy and smiling to sad and crying. As parents, we tend to start thinking those difficult days are over, but then we discover that our older kiddos have their set of challenges as well. Sometimes they really don't want to be there, they can feel pretty self conscious in front of the camera, and they tend to have pretty strong opinions about what they want to wear.
These challenges aside, it's a great time to get portraits made! We tend to not take as many photos when our kids turn away from the camera and give us eye rolls. The thing is, they typically won't act that way for a photographer! Believe it or not, most of them actually end up enjoying having their portrait taken, especially when it's a solo portrait.
I really enjoyed taking these fall family portraits of the Windler family. We all enjoyed the gorgeous fall weather and were able to capture some sincere smiles! I think they did a great job with their outfits too, the colors look fantastic with the background and each other. Good job Mom!
